The PFA is a small, and getting smaller, group of parents and staff at our school who get together and arrange social events to raise funds for our school. Anyone is welcome who has an interest in the school.
But why bother raising money anyway? You would be surprised at the many things the school budget does not stretch to!
It all began with the idea that every child should have access to a computer - and not just an old BBC basic model, but a bright new all-singing-all-dancing model. At that time there were perhaps two computers (very old ones) in school. But along came the PFA and you will have noticed that every classroom has excellent up-to-date computers. In addition to this the children also have access to the computer suite at Nook Lane School, a fully equipped computer classroom that was partly funded by the dedicated team on Nook Lane PFA.
Since those early days the PFA have helped to improve the environment of the school in many ways, they have helped to pay for the lovely climbing equipment your children use for P.E. The beautiful garden that they play in nearly every day has been just about fully funded by parental support of PFA events. Every year the PFA provides money to buy classroom Christmas presents. They have donated money to help provide the under fives play area at the front of the school. It has helped fund a listening station, story sacks and a camera to record school events. Most recently it has provided funds for the purchase of play equipment for the playground, books, dressing-up clothes and playtime equipment, not to mention all the lovely new playground painting, which was done over the summer holidays. The playground has been refurbished and provides some new surfaces and some low level play equipment and fencing.
So how has the PFA raised all this money for these things (and it has been a lot!)? Well its activities have been many and varied over the years but all rely on parents and families coming along and having fun. There have been many Christmas Fayres, Easter bunny hunts, treasure hunts, family picnics, quiz nights, sponsored parents keep fit, bucking bronco, wine tasting evening, fashion shows, toy sales, Stannington Carnivals, they have held raffles, tombolas, activity days, murder mystery night, bingo, kids discos and more.
A lot of people have had some really good laughs at these events and many thanks are due to everyone who has helped out and who has come along to enjoy themselves.
Please continue to support the school via the PFA events - they take a great deal of organising and we thank all the parents/grandparents/friends involved.

These are some of the PFA members and many parents are involved.
New members to the PFA are always welcome. The help and organisation of events would not be possible without the support of the PFA members. Please see an exisiting PFA member, the Headteacher or just come along to one of the meetings to see how you can help our school.
