On Friday 7th February 2014 Stannington Infant School showed our support for the British Heart Foundation by wearing red to school We raised £118.55.
In FS we looked on the British Heart Foundation's website. We discussed what our heart's job is and explored ways to keep it healthy. The children took their resting heart beats and counted how many jumps, hops we would do in a minute. We felt our hearts again and talked about the differences. The children explored ways to keep healthy at play and lunchtime and played games in the hall to support this.
In Year 2 we tested how our heart beat changes after exercise. We used stop watches to record how many activities we could do in one minute, eg speed jumps, star jumps. We discussed ways to keep our heart healthy and found out what our heart does.
