Class 5 had an amazing first day at Forest Schools. The sun held off during the morning whilst we searched in the garden for objects that were alive, dead or never alive.

We also looked at plants and labelled the functions of the roots, leaves, stem and flowers.

We now understand how to care for the bees we have in school, as well as the parts of the hive and roles bees have. This was really interesting. One group put on the bee suits and saw the hive up close when doing the daily check.

Lastly, we made yummy smoothies which were a huge success. We discussed what fruit is, how are they grown and how to hold a knife safely. We discussed food hygiene and whether smoothies are healthy or unhealthy.

The sun came through in the afternoon. We enjoyed activities on the field such as den building, identifying plants and trees in the field and their uses. We also made thumb pots with clay.

Here are some photos of our day. We can’t wait for next week!
