Y2 had a wonderful day out at the National Railway Museum in York. After working so hard to find out about George Stephenson and his inventions we were all delighted to see a lifesize replica of The Rocket!
When we arrived we went straight to a workshop about forces. The children thoroughly enjoyed using tension to send the teddy flying to the ceiling and watched poor Barbie being shot head first from a cannon through the power of steam! The presenters of the workshop were suprised by the knowledge our Y2 children already had. They were confidently answering questions about gravity and friction.
The next part of the day was spent exploring the amazing collection of engines and comparing the different ccarriages. I think we all agreed we would rather travel on the Royal train than as a 3rd class passenger!
It was a great day out and the children were as always a credit to their parents and school. We were supported by many parent volunteers who did a wonderful job, thank you.
