Wentworth Castle Sept 2013

As part of our Dungeons and Dragons topic we visited Wentworth Castle.  We took our art books so we could draw the castle.  Back in school we have used these drawings to recreate pastel and charcoal pictures of the castle and it's grounds.  We had to be careful because there was a dragon watching us from the top of the keep.  Luckily we managed to escape his fiery breath!  We learnt about the different parts of the castle and their names.  Hannah the guide told us a story about Lady Lucy and the Gardener she fell in love with.  Unfortunately it had an unhappy ending.  Ask your child to tell you the story.

Back in school we have been writing a recount about our visit.  The children will be making models of castles and dragons as well as writing dragon poems.  Mr Payne told us a great dragon poem when he visited us last week.  Hopefully ours will be just as good as his.
